The Dahlia Garden in Golden Gate Park

Did you know that the Dahlia is the official flower of San Francisco? It has been since 1926. And since right around then, Dahlias have been planted and displayed in a dedicated plot in Golden Gate Park.
I visited the Dahlia Garden last week, it is right next to the Conservatory of Flowers, and it is stunning. The colors, shapes and varieties of blooms are incredible. The Dahlias are being donated, planted, watered, and otherwise taken care of by volunteers from the Dahlia Society. If you're in the area, stop by for a visit; it's free, and the Dahlias will be in peak bloom in August.
